The following was a response to my request to support legal immigration for skilled workers.

Thank you for writing me in support of the H-1B visa program. I agree with you that the limited increase in visas for highly skilled immigrants will benefit the economy.
The demand for these workers is clear. When the H-1B annual numerical limits reverted to 65,000 from 195,000 the Fiscal Year 2004 limit was reached in mid-February 2004, and the Fiscal Year 2005 limit was reached on October 1, 2004, the first day of the fiscal year.
Skilled immigrants play a valuable role in our economy. Using the technology sector as an example, the economic production of companies assisted by workers on H1-B visas in 1998 created more than $16.8 billion in sales and over 58,000 jobs. Our challenge is to capture this economic benefit while also creating more jobs and opportunity for American workers.
As you know, the intent is that H1-B visas should only be issued if qualified American workers are unable to take the jobs in question. Also, H1-B visa holders should be paid a fair market wage for their work, not less than what an American worker would make for performing the same work. The intent of the program is not to undercut existing wage structures by importing foreign workers.
As this debate continues, I believe it is important for Congress to assess how the H1-B visa affects job opportunities for Americans and wages in the relevant sectors. If the H-1B visa continues to help our economy and improve opportunities for American workers, I will continue my support for this program. As the Senate considers this matter, I will certainly keep your concerns in mind.

10th is almost over and I thought we had this trend that when USCIS wants to maintain status quo they publish bulletin early in the month and if the bulletin is delayed there is strong probablity that there will be some positive movement

I am planning to start my Online MBA from Univ of Nebraska (UNL). This is AACSB certified.
Also the price point is really sweet. 17K only + Books. Business Week placed it 4th overall part time.
The Best Part-Time Business Schools: University of Nebraska - BusinessWeek (http://images.businessweek.com/ss/09/11/1105_best_part_time_business_schools/7.htm)
-That is what got me interested in the first place.
Plus it is not a "** State University" but a "University of **" which means it should have better profs.
Anyhow anyone has any pros and cons to share about this one?

As much as I hated it, being EB3 ROW with Jul05 pd, I feel it is good that they didn't randomly move the pd forward like last year then give gc to some random 2006, 2007 cases while there are plenty of 2004 and 2005 ROW people still waiting

If one gets an H-1B approval now (Jan/Feb), can he start working right away? Or does he have to wait till the start of fiscal year, October?
What if the employer is an NGO or NPO? I believe, it is not counted against the H-1 quota but in that case, can he start working right away?

The message is simple, you got the people with right stuff, standing in the line, waiting for their green cards. Their wait is neither good for them nor good for anyone else.
By the way, nobody is claiming that we all will buy the house, we just are saying that we have the potential. And we want a platform to realize this potential. This is the fact no one can deny.
Every point you are raising , I have answers for that, what will it take me to convince you now?
Exactly. An idea is like a spark, but you have to be mindful of what we are pledging. Can someone in one single sentence write down the intent of this poll? If I understand correctly, the idea is to alert the media/USCIS and let them know that hey if you give us GCs, we will buy a house!
So far people have only voted that they will buy a house when their I-485 gets approved. Yes, but when? The next day, next year, 2010, 2015?

IV has a tough time getting people here to contribute in return for getting a GC and here we are promising USCIS that we will buy a house in return for a GC. Hmmm...

I read somewhere that now all the applications - 485/EAD/AP, for one particular applicant, are adjudicated by the same officer. This is a new process change to improve efficiency. I think the article I read indicated that it was already working that way at TSC.

If an attorney says that it cannot be done with administrative changes, then I guess, we dont have much to argue.
But I cannot understand the logic behind why it cant be done. I mean, disallowing concurrent processing is possible by an administrative change, why is the reverse (or something similar like allowing 485 filing without pd being current), not possible?
I am sorry for not being to let go of this, but I thought, logic-life can see some logic in this!!! :)

I agree with you. There is not logic in any of immigration related laws. I think they should re-write all those immigration laws again and all lawmakers should be Immigrant who can understand all the pain we have coz of these immigration laws. I don`t think any law maker knows "what I-485 is"
Once they approve the 1-140 and that`s it it shuold be all done. AOS
(Change of Status) is all stupid and meaning less. It just money making games for all Attorneys and law makers. All attorneys supports law makers so they make laws where attorney can have maximum benefits from us. I think next time any one of us talks to USCIS, we should ask this question as to "Whether they have generated any rejection notices for apps received on July 2 2007 and have they mailed them".....my attorney says so far they have not received any rejection notices for apps filed on July 2 2007.
I checked with someone who has hired Rajiv Khanna and they said the same thing to him. So far, they have not generated any rejection notice for any application filed on and after July 2nd. Since this came from Rajiv Khanna I would think that it's some what credible information.
We will just have to wait and see till our checks get cashed!
